Am I ready for my 4 year old to start Pre-K? I have a mix of emotions right now as I prepare for my 4 year old to start Pre-K! I feel a little bit nervous, anxious, and excited all at the same time. I am definitely excited for my daughter to start school, but I am also nervous and anxious about leaving her. I know that she will thrive and will make new friends. What I don’t know is if I will be okay! I am already missing her and she’s not even gone yet! Am I ready for my 4 year old to start pre-k?

What I don’t know is If I will be okay!

Am I ready for my 4 year old to start Pre-K?

My daughter will start Pre-K on August 10th for 3 hours, 2 days a week. I know, I know…it’s only for 3 hours, 2 days a week. To some, this is like nothing because their kids have been in preschool or daycare before, but my daughter has been with me every day since she was born. This is a first time for her and for me, so I am definitely nervous. I am nervous about saying goodbye to her for the first time as I walk away from her classroom. I am nervous about driving away from her school without her in the car seat. I know this nervousness is temporary and it will subside once I get used to her going to school, but for now, I am nervous.

I know this nervousness is temporary and it will subside once I get used to her going to school, but for now, I am nervous.

Besides being nervous, I also feel a little bit of anxiety. I am afraid of not knowing what to do when I get home after dropping her off at school. I seldom have 1:1 time with my 1 year old, so I have no idea how to spend time with just her. I’m also anxious about making new mom friends as my daughter makes her own friends. I know I  have to be brave for my daughter so that she can feel at ease and comfortable starting school, but it’s not going to be easy. Healthline’s article, “Stressed About Your Kid Starting School? 63% of Moms Feel the Same,” by Leah Campbell tells us that we can’t control our child’s experience, but we CAN control our response. I am going to remain calm for the sake of my daughter no matter how hard it’s going to be on me.

I know I  have to be brave for my daughter so that she can feel at ease and comfortable starting school, but it’s not going to be easy.

Despite my nervousness and anxiety, I am excited for my daughter! A whole new world is about to open up for her and I can’t wait for her to explore and go on new adventures! I know I will support my daughter as she navigates through her first year of school. I am excited for her to make new friends and learn new things. This is a whole new experience not only for my daughter, but also for me and I am excited for it!

Hi! My name is Stephanie Eyerly and I am a stay at home mom with a 20 month old baby girl named Mia. She is my everything and I want to give her the world! I enjoy seeing my baby girl laugh and maintaining our home our happy place. Before becoming a mom, I worked as a Case Manager with troubled, delinquent, and disadvantaged children who were in the Foster Care and Probation system. I am aware of how unfair our world can be, so my plan is to protect and advocate for my baby girl as much as I can. I enjoy playing, watching TV, and cuddling up to read a book with her. Writing also plays a big part in my life as a creative outlet. Besides writing for the amazing Corona Moms Blog, I also write for my own blog called Sit. Stay. Mom. at sitstaymom.com. Family is very important to us and quitting my job to stay at home with her was the best decision I've ever made! Oh, and I also have an amazing husband who works hard and loves us very much!
