We are more known by Dreams Corp. within the community, although BriElen’s D.R.E.A.M.S Corp is our legal 501c3 nonprofit name. DREAMS is an acronym for DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESISTANCE EDUCATION MOVEMENT FOR SOLUTIONS. We originated 4 yrs ago after writing a program for high schools to educate youth on DV prevention. 85% of all victims are 16 to 24 yrs of age. The topic is often hushed meanwhile our children are DYING every day from Domestic Violence/Teen Dating Abuse. The program is a week long educational system set up to teach the warning signs, what to do, recognize abusive patterns in yourself and others, and boost confidence for teens.
While doing this, we organized many large events for children who were victims and noticed HOW MANY kids and mothers were out on the streets because of DV. What could we do to help? We began a new portion of our mission which is to help these women get off the streets and out of shelters with their kids by helping them get employment. That begins with them receiving a full head to toe (hair and makeup, wardrobe, shoes, toiletries, nails and even jewelry and purses!) Boosting confidence and reminding them that they are beautiful and capable. We then give them a new wardrobe ( full of work attire mostly but also casual) and let them take makeup and products to continue their new look. We assist with job searching and placement. When they are ready to get a place we help them furnish it and provide needed items.
During the holidays, primarily Christmas, we have HUGE Christmas parties called “HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS”. We hold large toy drives and go to local shelters and throw a huge party with a tree full of tons of gifts below and we also gift the mothers and women. We give them makeovers that day too. We have surprise Santa and a large feast too!
We hosted last years 1st annual Sierra Del Oros Community Christmas Fair, and are doing this year as well. It takes place Dec 14 in the Green River Promenade. We will be holding a toy drive and featuring 100 plus vendors with food and entertainment too.
We also offer many free events for kids in Corona like art lessons and different things. We open these up to the public free of charge.
My name is Brieanna, I am the Co-CEO. We are legal in 3 states, however, because I live in Corona, I do a majority of our outreach here in my own community. I live in Sierra Del Oro, and we are supported by continuous donations by the community and are so grateful for such a special relationship. I myself was the victim of Domestic Violence that nearly took my life. I will send you the link to my story in messenger as well as link to our page.
Lastly, we are very involved with addressing the issue of homelessness in Corona. We have worked continuously with reps of the city on the issue and problem solving.
