My Mom Bod Part 3 – The Food Breakdown

mom bod part 3 the food break down

What I eat in a day to fuel working out, exclusively breastfeeding, and plain old surviving the day.

Warning- this is the real nitty-gritty. You will not find Keto tips, skimpy eating, denial of any kind really. I try to keep it clean when I can, nourishing for me and my babe- cause what I eat, she eats, Hubby friendly for dinners, easy, & cheap!

Breakfast/Pre-Workout:

I have one cup of coffee because #mom-life. One cup of water with a drop of Lemon Essential oil (yes, I’m that girl lol!) A bowl of oatmeal. Every day starts with Oatmeal, it helps with keeping up your milk supply. I do one cup of Oats, 1/2 cup of milk of choice, and whatever toppings I want. This week its dried cranberries, chopped apples if I have them or sliced banana, and a spoonful or granola topping.

Breakfast/Lunch/Post-Workout:

Two eggs scrambled up with a bit of cheese, spinach, and a dash of hot sauce. I like to have chopped veggies on hand to throw in too! Sometimes wrapped in a tortilla sometimes I’ll do a piece of toast.

OR I have a protein shake! Much easier, quicker, and less clean up!

Now lunch varies a lot for me! No matter what, I know I need to have something to keep my calories up for nursing during the day. But depending on if I’m home or on the go, I might have left over’s from dinner, I might have a sandwich and a salad. But lunch is definitely where I splurge. My appetite is always up at this point in the day. If I don’t give in to food I find myself dizzy by dinner.

*My little one nurses about every 2 hours throughout the day, and every 3-5 hours at night*

Dinner:

Hubby and I try to keep our weeknight meals quick, cost-effective and healthy. So we do a variation of chicken and veggies every night. We prefer organic boneless skinless chicken thighs because they cook quickly and are juicy and tender compared to chicken breast, of course, this is our preference!

A go-to recipe would be a single sheet pan of chicken, brussels sprouts, butternut squash and onions drizzled with olive oil and seasonings done in the oven! Easy cleanup!

Do you have a yummy and easy recipe that is your weekday go-to? I’d love to hear about it!
