Am I the only one that eats junk food when the toddler sleeps?!

I eat junk food while my toddler sleeps.

I am all for trying to eat as healthy as possible and modeling good eating habits to your children, but there are times when you just have to eat a little piece of chocolate, or snack on some delicious BBQ Lays.

C’mon! Who is savoring them in their mouth as they read?!

I actually even have a separate “snacks” list for my husband to buy at the grocery store because I like to have a little something here and there when the toddler is asleep. I take my toddler’s nap time as a break, even from chores, and I sit down and watch TV or do something for myself. It is usually during this time when I want to eat comfort food, which usually isn’t healthy.

Am I proud of it? No. But, I don’t regret it.

I’m not here to judge anyone’s eating habits. I’m simply making an observation of myself.

I eat junk food while my toddler sleeps.

I want to normalize hiding junk food from your toddler because we do not live in a perfect world and even people who follow strict diets have cheat days.

So, this is for the momma that feels ashamed for enjoying a slice of cake when the kids are asleep…

It’s okay!

You know what you don’t realize… is that you ACTUALLY DO CARE about modeling good eating habits. You are eating your little piece of junk food when they are ASLEEP…not in plain sight when they are watching you. Obviously, I still encourage you to practice good eating habits and exercise to stay healthy, but don’t feel ashamed for satisfying a craving.

Below is a list of 10 junk food items I’ve hidden from my toddler…and from my husband too haha!

  1. Golden Oreos
  2. Butter Pecan Ice Cream
  3. Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles
  4. Mochi Ice Cream
  5. Froot Loops Cereal
  6. Lemon Cake
  7. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  8. Butter/Sugar Crepes
  9. Butter Popcorn
  10. Butter and Strawberry Jelly Toast

I wonder what junk food items other mothers are hiding from their kids! If you are cravings something sweet, here’s a great recipe for a treat.

Hi! My name is Stephanie Eyerly and I am a stay at home mom with a 20 month old baby girl named Mia. She is my everything and I want to give her the world! I enjoy seeing my baby girl laugh and maintaining our home our happy place. Before becoming a mom, I worked as a Case Manager with troubled, delinquent, and disadvantaged children who were in the Foster Care and Probation system. I am aware of how unfair our world can be, so my plan is to protect and advocate for my baby girl as much as I can. I enjoy playing, watching TV, and cuddling up to read a book with her. Writing also plays a big part in my life as a creative outlet. Besides writing for the amazing Corona Moms Blog, I also write for my own blog called Sit. Stay. Mom. at sitstaymom.com. Family is very important to us and quitting my job to stay at home with her was the best decision I've ever made! Oh, and I also have an amazing husband who works hard and loves us very much!
