5 Steps To A Calmer Morning, Mama

Mornings can be crazy for parents. Trying to get up and start the day isn’t always easy, especially if you’re not a morning person. Factor in kids, the urgency to get ready for school/daycare/work and sleepy heads can all combine for a chaotic morning.

If your mornings are too hectic for your liking, there are a few things you can do for a calmer morning. Here are 5 simple steps that will help you feel calm in the AM, so that you can enjoy your day with your kids and feel so on edge bright and early.

1. Breathe

Even before you get out of bed, just breathe! Take 5 deep calming breaths to start your day.

2. Smile

Allow your gorgeous smile to shine through and light your face. Already knowing it’s going to be a good morning before you get up can really make a difference in your AM mood.

3. Practice Gratitude

Finding at least one thing you are truly grateful for early in the AM will shift your focus and vibe early in the morning.

4. Have A Mantra

Choose a mantra that you can come back to when you’re feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. This will definitely help you find your calm again. Some ideas include: “Just Breathe,” “I’ve Got This,” “I Am Enough,” “I Choose Love,” or “I Give Myself Permission To Slow Down” work great!

5. Set An Intention

Set an intention to do something just for you today. This can include: reading a book, having a solo dance party, grabbing some coffee at your favorite coffee shop, doing some yoga, taking a bubble bath, going for a walk, meditating and journaling and other small things that bring you joy.

Repeat this ritual each morning to deeply infuse your days with calm. Once it becomes a routine, you’ll find that your mornings aren’t as rushed or chaotic!
